Seeking Partners in Development
EmeraMed is seeking strategic partners and investors to support the continued clinical development and potential commercialization of emeramide (also known as NBMI or Irminix®), an investigational lipophilic thiol-based compound with metal-chelating and antioxidant properties.emeramide is designed to bind irreversibly to certain heavy metals (such as mercury, arsenic, cadmium, lead, and others) and to address oxidative stress. The molecule has been evaluated in multiple preclinical studies and early clinical trials. EmeraMed holds use patents covering various potential applications, providing a foundation for further development.
Key Development Highlights
- Safety Profile: In completed Phase 1 and Phase 2 clinical studies, emeramide has been generally well tolerated, with no serious drug-related adverse events reported. Earlier distribution (2008–2010) of the compound (then known as OSR#1) through medical and dental offices involved approximately 2.5 million doses under pharmacovigilance, with no serious drug related adverse events reported at that time. FDA required the company to pursue full drug development as a new chemical entity.
- Clinical Trials: Multiple Phase 2 studies have been completed, including trials evaluating safety and effects in populations with mercury exposure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), among others. Additional studies in iron overload conditions (e.g., thalassemia, atypical Parkinsonism) have also been conducted. Details are available on ClinicalTrials.gov.
- Mechanism: emeramide is a lipid-soluble compound that crosses the blood-brain barrier and is intended to chelate free metals and quench oxidative stress. Preclinical data support its potential in metal detoxification and related areas.
- Regulatory Status: emeramide has received Orphan Drug Designation from the FDA for the treatment of mercury toxicity. It is an investigational product with Investigative new Drug status for acute mercury intoxication and is not approved by the FDA or other major regulatory authorities for any indication. Plans are underway to seek marketing approval.
Partnership Opportunities
We have advanced emeramide through early clinical development but are now seeking partners with expertise and resources to support:
- Further Phase 2/3 clinical trials
- Regulatory submissions and approvals
- Manufacturing scale-up
- Commercialization strategies (human, veterinary and environmental applications)
- Licensing of patented uses
Interested parties are invited to contact us for confidential discussions and access to a data room containing detailed preclinical, clinical, and intellectual property information.
